Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT) is a powerful mindfulness-based therapy that currently leads the field in terms of research, application and results. The aim of ACT is to help people create a rich, full and meaningful life, while effectively handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings. ACT does this by:
  • teaching psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively in such a way that they have much less impact and influence
  • helping to clarify what is truly important and meaningful - then use that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate to change your life for the better

Dr. Rusell Harris is a medical doctor, psychotherapist, best-selling author and highly regarded ACT expert who will help you better understand the power of this approach. Whether your clients are suffering from anxiety, depression or other DSM disorders, this seminar recording will give you the tools to help them. Within one day you will learn a set of scientifically-proven techniques to:
  • handle painful thoughts and feelings far more effectively
  • break self-defeating habits
  • reduce stress and worry
  • rise above fear, doubt and insecurity
  • build more satisfying relationships and, above all,
  • create a rich, full and meaningful life

OBJECTIVES
  • Rapidly develop and strengthen psychological acceptance in your clients
  • Rapidly and effectively help clients reduce the believability of negative thoughts, without challenging them
  • Utilize mindfulness therapeutically, and innovate your own mindfulness techniques
  • Integrate the 6 core processes of ACT in a wide variety of clinical problems
  • Help clients identify their core values, and take committed action
  • Identify the 4 common factors of resistance, and effectively target them with ACT interventions

ABOUT RUSSELL HARRIS

Russell Harris, M.D., is a medical professional, psychotherapist, and best-selling author of The Happiness Trap. As a family doctor, Russ became increasingly interested in the psychological aspects of health (and increasingly disinterested in writing prescriptions), which ultimately led him to change careers and become a therapist. His workshops are highly praised among the ACT community for their simplicity, clarity, and accessibility – and his teaching materials are used by ACT trainers all over the world.

Russ lives in Melbourne, Australia and spends much of the year traveling around Australia and other countries, providing workshops for a wide variety of health professionals - from coaches and therapists, to psychologists and psychiatrists. He also regularly presents ACT workshops at both national and international conferences. His book The Happiness Trap is now widely used not just as a self-help book for clients, but as a self-teaching aid for therapists who wish to learn ACT quickly and easily without getting bogged down in
technical jargon.

Russ’ highly-acclaimed ACT workshops are typically brief, powerful, cost-effective and life-enhancing – and his Aussie sense of humor ensures they are also lots of fun!!!
